Scholarship Award Procedure
(a) Students will be selected during the April 2019 NJAFPA general membership meeting.
(b) The NJAFPA Scholarship Committee will notify selected students, his/her parents, and local school officials by April 15, 2019.
(c) Parents, students and local school officials will be invited by the President’s association to join us at the spring NJAFPA general membership meeting that will take place at the Princeton Marriot, on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:30 a.m.
Payment of Student Grant
In order to collect this scholarship, each winner must send the information outlined below by September 30, 2019 to:

A letter from the School Registrar’s Office indicating full time status is required for scholarship payment. Note: a check will only be issued to the student when the association receives verification of attendance in a post high school institution.

$2,500 NJAFPA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
Directions and Guidelines for Recommending Eligible Students
The NJAFPA will offer $2,500 worth of student grants to students from the N.J. regional areas:
South – Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties;
Central – Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Union Counties;
North – Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties
Criteria for Student Eligibility
Eligibility should be based on local district standards in addition to:
(a) Students must have participation in a least one State or Federally funded program such as Title I/ Chapter I, ESL/Bilingual or Basic Skills Improvement Program (at some point between pre-kindergarten and twelfth grade.
(b) Student’s academic performance for grades 9, 10, and 11 should be average or above average, based on local district standards (transcript).
(c) Student(s) recommended for a scholarship should show a definite financial need. This should be confirmed by the school district recommending the student.
(d) Student(s) should have demonstrated good citizenship in school via extracurricular activities and/or community activities such as church, scouts, 4H, etc.
(e) Only grade 12 students are to be recommended.
Selection Process
(a)Selection of eligible students from each district should be based on above criteria and not on race, sex, religion or ethnic origin.
(b) Each district with a NJAFPA association member(s) is eligible to participate.
(c) Recommended students’ names and all pertinent information concerning the student(s) must be accurately and thoroughly completed on the NJAFPA form in order for him/her to be considered.
(d) Only two (2) students per associated district may be recommended for the scholarship.
(e) The enclosed application must be completed by an NJAFPA member and forwarded for receipt on or before March 15, 2019. Applications will not be accepted after the due date. The name and address is provided on the next page (bottom).
